Seasonal flu vaccine distributed in Herkimer
HERKIMER, N.Y. (WKTV) - People were lined up Wednesday morning at the Herkimer Methodist Church on Prospect Street to get the seasonal flu vaccine.
Organizer said that just like with swine flu, there's a shortage of seasonal flu vaccine across the country. However, instead of giving the shot to children or people with health risks, this clinic is geared toward adults. "We're much more busy this year and I think the reason is because of the shortage of the vaccines," said Helene Cecconi, public health nursing supervisor. "So, we're very busy, like I said. This morning we're getting the regular seasonal vaccine and we're targeting the adults." There were only 200 doses of the flu vaccine available at Wednesday morning's clinic. |
