Florida fugitive located in attic crawl space in Utica

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The United States Marshals Service New York / New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force has announced the capture of Artis James Kendrick, 48.

Kendrick, a fugitive from justice, was wanted by the Osceola County Florida Sheriffs Office for charges of sexual assault and sexual battery of a victim under 12 years of age.

Local Task Force investigators developed information that Kendrick may have been staying with family or friends in the City of Utica.

At roughly 10 a.m. on Thursday, November 19, Kendrick was found hiding in the attic crawl space at 1206 Albany Street in Utica.

Kendrick was arrested without incident, arraigned in Utica City Court and will remain in custody pending his extradition back to Florida to answer these charges.
