Masonic Care Community breaks ground on Acacia 2
UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Masonic Care Community broke ground on the Acacia 2 - a $20 million construction project.
The new building will be just east of Acacia Village. M. Donald Dorrohn III, the board of trustees president, said this project was years in the making, and he is excited that the Masonic Community will soon be able to fill the growing need for another independent living facility. The Acacia 2 will be made up of 75 units and much more. "The building, as I said, will be 75 units," Dorrohn said. "It will include a car barn for 20 vehicles...attached to the building so the residents in inclement weather will not have to go outside at all." With recent improvements to the whole campus, and the new construction, Masonic has invested about $100 million. No word yet on how many jobs will be created when Acacia 2 is complete in mid-2011. |
