Canned pumpkin in short supply for this Thanksgiving

(WKTV) - A Thanksgiving staple is in short supply. A canned pumpkin shortage is putting a crimp in pie baking and holiday dinners across the country.

Bad, rainy weather across the country has caused a great pumpkin shortage.

"Our inventory is much lower at this time of year...than we would like them to be," says New Hartford Target manager Mike Jacobs. The New Hartford Target is down to 24 cans of pumpkin. Jacobs says he didn't envision a shortage this time of year.

Not all stores are fairing as badly. Chanatry's Market manager Stephen Brooks says when he first got the letter about the canned pumpkin shortage, he took steps to make sure his shelves would be stocked.

"We aren't going to experience any pumpkin shortage," he says. "We should be ready for the holidays."
