Men throw box of cocaine out window in police pursuit

WEBB, N.Y. (WKTV) - Four men were arrested late Friday night after authorities say a police chase ensued through Eagle Bay and a box of illegal drugs was thrown at the officers.

According to Town of Webb Police, 40-year-old Kenneth Hinckley of Blue Mountain Lake was traveling south on Route 28 when police attempted to pull him over for speeding. He also tried to run a police cruiser off of the road, police say.

In the midst of the pursuit, police say a metal box was thrown at them. Inlet police then recovered the box and found 13 grams of cocaine and other drug paraphernalia inside.

Hinckley then disobeyed police for several miles before pulling over near Rondax Road in the Town of Webb.

After eventually pulling over, Hinckely was charged with DWI, criminal possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, speeding, obstructed drivers view, failure to comply with police, open container of alcohol in car, failed to yield one half of roadway and refusing a breathalyser test.

Also arrested were 31-year-old Mark Bird of Raquette Lake, 29-year-old Daniel Norris or Raquette Lake and 36-year-old Eric Klein of Indian Lake.

The vehicle was towed from the scene.
