Big numbers come out for the Sauquoit Valley Craft Show

SAUQUOIT, N.Y. (WKTV) - Organizers say the Sauquoit Valley Fine Arts & Crafts Show was a huge hit this year, with what they believe was a record turnout.

Jill Hayes who helps put on the event says the weather had a lot to do with it. The venue is really like no other here in Central New York. The Sauquoit Valley Middle School is transformed into a mall for the entire weekend.

All of the desks and chairs from each classroom are removed and in move vendors. Shopper Kim Nowakowski says "It's amazing I don't know how they pull it off so the classrooms are ready on monday morning, but it's a great idea."

Hayes says the event started 31 years ago. She said, "Three women from Sauquoit ran it and they retired so a new group of women came together to put it on, so we have 90 exhibitors here, it's a great show."

Many moms and their families say just like Black Friday, which is coming up, they make this show an annual family shopping event.
