LOS ANGELES (WKTV) - A country band with local roots is celebrating the win of a prestigious award at Sunday's American Music Awards. The band Gloriana won the Breakthrough Artist of the Year Award, beating out favorite Lady Gaga.

Gloriana was officially founded in 2007 and features two brothers originally from New Hartford, Tom and Mike Gossin, in addition to two other members, Rachel Reinert and Cheyenne Kimball.

It has been quite the impressive year for Gloriana which included being the number one album on iTunes this past summer. The single "Wild At Heart" is the best selling single by a new country artist in 2009 with sales reaching upwards of 350,000 copies to date. They also performed at the Country Music Television Awards.

The Gossin brothers and their band have toured with Taylor Swift, another AMA Award winner Sunday night. They credit Swift for being a fan of their group and inviting them to tour with her as an opening act.

Sunday, the group beat out other prominent musicians like Lady Gaga, Kid Cudi and Kari Hilson.

Gloriana's self-titled debut album was only released in late-summer and they have already made a lot of noise in the country and popular music industries.

In August, NEWSChannel 2 spoke with their mom, Maryann Witte, who said she could not be more proud of her boys.

"They were very determined," Witte said. "They worked hard at it and went above what was expected of them to get where they are today. I saw that over the years when they were growing up. They are absolutely dedicated to music and that's it."
