Arcuri Hoping to Pull the Plug on NYRI

Congressman Michael Arcuri is heading to Capitol Hill today in an effort to pull the plug on NYRI.

New York Regional Interconnect wants to build massive powerlines through central New York, including Utica.

Arcuri will meet with the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.  Under the National Energy Act, the Federal Agency can override state regulations and designate areas of the country as national interest electric transmission corridors.  Arcuri and other Congressman will see if NYRI fits this stipulation.
