Andrew Donovan

Al Gore, the 45th vice president of the United States gave a lecture and corresponding multi-media presentation at Hamilton College on Thursday night. He is the 15th speaker in the Sacerdote Great Names Series at Hamilton College .

His presentation was based on his book and movie of the same title that focuses on the environmental issue of global warming. The movie was academy award winning and has received a great deal of attention. The film made its premiere almost eleven months ago at the Sundance Film Festival and reached the title of third highest grossing American documentary of all time.

He broke the ice early using a lot of humor. He jokingly referenced his lost presidential campaign in 2000 referring to himself as "the former next President of the ".

Eric Kuhn, a student at Hamilton College says "Hamilton College is an incredibly lucky community to have the ability to attract movers and shakers of the world to the Hill. For a college that stresses writing and public speaking, the Sacerdote Great Names Series is a great way to bring the text book alive in an overall phenomenal learning opportunity."

Tom Brokaw, the former anchor and managing editor of NBC Nightly News was last years speaker and Gore now joins him and Bill Cosby, Madeleine Albright, Jimmy Carter, Lady Margaret Thatcher, Colin Powell, and F.W. de Klerk among others in the series.
