Stabbing victim identified as Utica man

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Shortly after 2:00 a.m. Friday, Utica Police Patrol Units were flagged down in the area of Spilka's Bar located at Stark Street in Utica in regards to an assault and possible stabbing.

At that location, patrol units located a male subject suffering from several stab wounds and a second subject nearby.

During the investigation on the scene, police identified the two subjects involved in what was originally reported to be verbal altercation.

Both subjects were transported to local hospitals where at approximately 3:00 a.m.

27-year-old Ambrose Smith III of Utica, did succumb to his injury. The other party was identified as 20-year-old Willie Reed of Utica, and was subsequently charged with manslaughter.
