Oneida Nation's economic impact on CNY

VERONA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Oneida Indian Nation, including Turning Stone, had a direct economic impact of $450 million.

The payroll for the nation's workforce was more than $124 million and $4.5 million for 401K's.

Those employees had more than $19-million taken out of their paychecks in federal income taxes, social security and medicare and more than $4 million in state income taxes.

The nation spent nearly $320 million for goods and services and according to the nation, $85 million of that was spent with local businesses.

NEWSChannel 2 has been told all of this money is coming from the resort and casino, SavOn, marinas, an Angus beef and crop farm, a fishing lodge, a 3D animation studio and a weekly newspaper.
