D.O.E. Power Line Hearing

Attendants at the July 12 hearing in Rochester, NY for the proposed power line that will run through upstate New York.

Central New Yorkers are just 60 days away from a decision on an energy cooridor designation, this could give a "green light" to the proposed NYRI powerline project.

For nearly four hours, officials with the Department of Energy listened to frustrated lawmakers and residents on Tuesday.

The hearing wasn't about NYRI, or their powerline proposal, but about the DOE's April draft that labeled Oneida County and seven others as part of a seven state national interest cooridor.

The Department of Energy wanted to make it clear that they do not support powerlines, they just identify power problems.  Those who made the trip and gave testimony Tuesday, say they don't believe the DOE.

The DOE will take there testimonies and put them in with other hearings, and then wait 60 days before making a decision.

The Upstate New York Citizens Alliance is hosting a public informational meeting to discuss the Rochester Meeting.

Local law makers as well as representatives from Senator Clinton's office will be in attendance.

That meeting gets started at 7pm Wednesday at the Sauquoit Valley High School.
