Cirino will face a grand jury Wednesday

By Laurie Benedict

The man accused of shooting Utica Police Officer Thomas Lindsey will now face a grand jury.

During a felony hearing for Weseley Molina Cirino Tuesday, prosecutors called on their star witness, Sammy Manuel Rivera. Rivera took the stand, telling the court that Officer Lindsey pulled him over for failing to stop at a stop sign.

Rivera says that while he was thanking Lindsey for giving him a break on the ticket, the defendant came up behind Officer Lindsey and shot him.

Cirino will remain in the Oneida County Jail without bail.
