Marcy man arrested for burglarizing Kirkland home

ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) - A Marcy man has been arrested after police say he broke into a home in Kirkland on Wednesday.

According to the Oneida County Sheriffs 46-year-old Johnnie Grimes of Marcy broke into a Martin Drive residence in the Town of Kirkland. Police say they were alerted by observant neighbors at around 9:30 a.m.

The neighbors were able to obtain the license plate numbers before it left and shared the information with the authorities that arrived. The officers then broadcast that information over their police radios to other officers all over the area.

The suspect was stopped on Mill Street in the City of Rome where Grimes was taken into custody without incident.

Grimes is charged with burglary. He was arraigned in the Village of Oriskany Court and sent to the Oneida County Correctional Facility.
