Tops beats out Price Chopper for P&C assets

By MIKE LaFAVE

(WKTV) - Tops Markets has submitted the highest bid for Penn Traffic's assets, beating out Price Chopper's previous bid.

Penn Traffic is the parent company of P&C Grocery Stores.

According to U.F.C.W. spokesman Greg Gorpa, even if Tops obtains the assets, it remains to be seen which store locations will remain open.

Generally in retail bankruptcy cases, the highest bidder is awarded the assets.
