Pistol Pete's Co-owner: "No one will represent me"

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - A former city department head and current club owner was in Utica City Court today on charges ranging from noise ordinance violations to operating a cabaret without a license.

The charges stem from Former Public Works Commissioner Stephen Patterson's club, "Pistol Pete's". Patterson was supposed to show up in court today with an attorney. He didn't have one and there was some talk about Patterson representing himself. Judge Gerald Popeo strongly advised against that and Patterson said he'd hire an attorney by his next court appearance in February. He says it's been a challenge, as no local attorneys will take his case.

Patterson says he has proof that he is not guilty of the crimes he faces.

"Yes I have tape, we have videotapes of the nights that I was accused of having cabaret so I don't want to get into it but we're very confident."

Patterson was arrested late New Year's Eve, then again in the early morning hours of New Year's Day. He's currently free on bail. He's due back in Utica City Court with his attorney February 8th. He says he might retain local attorney Leon Koziol and that he's looking at Syracuse firms as well.
