Local Tea Party leader seeks opponents to run against Arcuri

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - One local man says it's time for a new direction for the Democratic party.

You may remember Don Jeror, he's the man who interrupted House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer during a news conference on high-speed rail a few months ago.

Well now, he's founded a new group called "Democrats Against Mike," and wants to find a new Democratic candidate to run against incumbent Representative Michael Arcuri.

Jeror says that the party lines have shifted the wrong way and at the Federal Building, he made this request, "we're asking Independents and Democrats that are interested in standing up against the entrenched Democratic machine, to please come forward. If you're interested in running for office, not just Mike Arcuri's office but running for any other offices open, we'd certainly be interested in talking to you."

Arcuri's Press Secretary, Jay Biba says the Arcuri camp welcomes the challenge.

"Congressman Arcuri believes that if extreme conservatives and liberals take issues with his legislative agenda, he is in the right place, because the 24th Congressional District is filled with moderate Democrats and moderate Republicans alike."
