St. Patrick's Day Parade grand Marshall announced at Irish Fest halfway partyWHITESBORO, N.Y. (WKTV) - Sunday marked the half-way point until the Great American Irish Festival and the Grand Marshall of the St. Patrick's Day Parade. Frank Kealy will have the honors for this year's St. Patrick's Day event. Kealy was chosen from a list of nominees for a lifetime dedicated to his community and Irish heritage. He has been a member of the local chapter of the Ancient Order of the Hibernians since 1995 and headed up the Utica-based chapter of the Irish Political Prisoners Children's Holiday, an organization that raised money to bring kids from Northern Ireland to the United States for vacation. Kealy says he is thrilled to be the 2010 Grand Marshall and says he has been practicing the role his whole life. The St. Patrick's Day Parade will be held on March 13 down Genesee Street and the Great American Irish Festival will be held July 23 through July 25 at the Herkimer County Fairgrounds. Most Popular |
