Erin Hamlin fever growing in Remsen

REMSEN, N.Y. (WKTV) - Saturday's Remsen Snowfest was filled with bright sunny skies and a feeling of excitement. That feeling of excitement is due to the growing anticipation of Remsen's own Erin Hamlin going for the gold in the Luge in next week's Winter Olympics in Vancouver.

Family friend Dennis Corrigan decorated his van with plenty of Hamlin paraphernalia. He said, "we're ready for the big salute to Erin Hamlin, were good friends of the family and my kids went to school with her and, so yes, it's very exciting to have somebody from your home town."

Lisa Beagle who signed people up for this year's sled races says the feeling around town is just incredible. She said, "the town is all beaming and very excited about her race and going to the Vancouver Olympics."

Erin's father was on hand Saturday checking out the excitement and says he and his family leave for Vancouver on Thursday. He said, "we're looking forward to it, don't know what else to say, there's a lot of people behind us and we're going to take everybody's cheering with us."
