Overdose call leads to drug arrest for Rome man

ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) - State Police in Sylvan Beach responded to the report of a drug overdose in the City of Rome on Sunday, and now the victim is facing several charges.

According to State Police, their investigation at a Dale Road residence revealed that Russell M. LaPlante, 29, was in possession of a controlled substance and hypodermic needles.

LaPlante was subsequently charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument.

LaPlante was arraigned in the Town of Annsville court and released, and was set to re-appear in court at a later date.
