Val Bialas offering extended hours for winter break

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Kids on sleds, snowboards, skis, and ice skates pretty much had a wide open area to play in at the Val Bialas ski center in Utica on Monday.

The center was not as busy Monday as management would have liked, but they want to get the word out that this week, that they have extended hours for the kids, who have the week off.

"We're open 12 to 8 everyday," said Mark J. Ford, Val Bialas Ski Center Operator. "So they can come in at Noon and, basically, they can ski or snowboard all they want for $10 from Noon to 8. Ice skating is generally $3-5 from Noon to 8 and you can rent tubes and sleds. That's only open until dark."

For more advanced skiers and snowboarders, just like some of the hills at the Olympics, one of the main hills at Val Bialas contains all the bells and whistles when it comes to jumps, rail jams and table tops.
