ORISKANY, N.Y. (WKTV) - More layoffs are slated for a Mohawk Valley bus company.

Daimler Buses of North America announced Thursday that 27 people will be laid off at Orion Bus in Oriskany.

In December, employees were asked to enroll in the voluntary termination of employment program.

Six from Orion did so, but their parent company, Daimler, decided more layoffs were needed.

As a result, 27 union employees at Orion will be terminated next Friday.

The company says the layoffs are a result of many factors, including the overall economic downturn.

The Oriskany company employs 429 unionized workers.
