Tractor trailer crashes into home; kills woman sleeping inside

DAVENPORT, N.Y. (WKTV) - State Police say a tractor trailer driver lost control of his rig while rounding a curve and crashed into a home along State Route 23, killing a woman inside.

Authorities say the driver, Charles Harford of Binghamton took a curve too quickly while coming into Davenport Center and went off the road...striking the house.

Investigators say Rhonda Hitchcock was asleep at the time and was killed by falling concrete dislodged by the impact of the tractor trailer.

Two other people in the home, a woman and a five year-old child were taken to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries, along with Harford and a passenger. The investigation is continuing.
