63-year-old in critical condition after snowmobile accident

FLORENCE, N.Y. (WKTV) - A 63-year-old Central New York man is in critical condition after a snowmobile accident early Sunday morning.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Department says that Albert Nichols of Spencer attempted to turn onto Sullivan Road in the Town of Florence, in northern Oneida County when he hit a tree at a fork in the road.

Nichols was flown to University Hospital in Syracuse. Investigators say he suffered serious head, neck and internal injuries. They also say being unfamiliar with the trail system was a contributing factor in the accident.

The Investigation into the cause of the accident continues.
