One dead, another seriously injured in Lewis County snowmobile crash

GRIEG, N.Y. (WKTV) - State Police said one man is dead and another is seriously injured after they lost control of their snowmobiles and crashed.

According to State Police, Frank Orobello, 59, of Ronkonkoma, near Long Island, and Anthony Gallace, 22, of East Meadow, were traveling north on Partridgeville Road when they failed to negotiate a turn and hit several trees.

Orobello was killed instantly, authorities said.

Gallace suffered a head injury and was sent to St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica where he was listed in serious condition Monday morning and is in the intensive care unit.




February 21, 2010 State Police Lowville investigated a fatal snowmobile accident that occurred around 1:00 am on Partridgeville Rd in the Town of Greig. Two snowmobiles traveling in a Northerly direction on Partridgeville Rd failed to negotiate a curve striking several trees off the West shoulder of the roadway. Anthony Gallace, 22 of East Meadow, NY was operating a 2002 Arctic Cat. Gallace sustained a head injury and was air lifted to St. Elizabeths in Utica. Frank Orobello, 59 Ronkonkoma, NY was operating a 2000 Arctic Cat struck a tree and died instantly.
