Masonic indoor walk raises nearly $2,900 for heart research

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - While America's Greatest Heart Run and Walk is only about a week away, seniors from several area facilities got a head start Wednesday at the Masonic Care Community in Utica.

It marked the Fourth Annual Indoor Heart Walk at the Health Pavilion on the Masonic Care Community's Campus. Whether on their feet or by wheelchair, seniors raised money for the American Heart Association.

Masonic's Director of Community Life Jay Snow said that when the weather isn't good outside, it's the perfect time to hold a walk inside.

"We have a great indoor facility for it," Snow said. "With two glass atriums, a lot of natural light and it's the perfect setting to host a walk like this."

The event raised almost $2,900 - which is $900 more than last year.
