Former library treasurer gets more time to pay back embezzled funds
BOONVILLE, N.Y. (WKTV) - A former Boonville Library and Kiwanis Club treasurer has been given more time to pay back the money he's admitted stealing from both organizations.
Lawrence Recor's sentencing was postponed this week, after Judge Michael Dwyer granted him until March 15 to pay back approximately 30% of the money he stole. Recor's attorney said he expected Recor to pay back roughly $150,000 by that time. In January, Recor pleaded guilty to stealing more than $280,000 from Boonville's Erwin Library. Prosecutors said he wrote dozens of unauthorized checks from the library's account to his accounting business from June of 2005 to January of 2008, as well as more than $20,000 from the Boonville Kiwanis Club. |
