Cardiac Risk Assessment one of many free screenings at Heart Expo

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - One of the most popular attractions at the 2010 Heart Expo is the Cardiac Risk Assessment screening.

It's free to do and takes about 15 to 20 minutes.

Health professionals at the Mohawk Valley Heart Institute check a variety of things such as your cholesterol and your blood pressure. They say every year they have someone who is shocked by their results

"Last year, there was a lady who had a very high level of glucose which was so high that they felt she needed immediate attention," said Halsey Bagg of the Heart Institute.

There are other types of free screenings you can do at the Expo, including lung assessments and the hip-to-waist ratio, which helps determine if you might be at risk for certain types of diseases or conditions.
