Spartans earn return trip to Frozen Four

NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (WKTV) - The defending Division II state champions from New Hartford earned a return trip to the high school Frozen Four Saturday, beating Webster Thomas 5-4 in triple overtime in the regionals.  The Spartans were led by Clayton Whittemore (2 goals, 1 assist), Jason Fitzgerals (1 goal, 2 assist) and Alex Fukes (2 goals), who scored the go ahead goal in the third period, as well as the game winner in the third extra period.

The Spartans, who won their second straight overtime thriller in the post-season, will play in the state semis this Saturday at the Utica Memorial Auditorium.
