Cuomo, Ravitch meet on NY state budget
ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Lt. Gov. Richard Ravitch says a private
meeting he had last week with Attorney General Andrew Cuomo was about the whole state budget, even though the attorney general has no major role in budget matters. Ravitch denied that he spoke to Cuomo about the investigation he's leading into scandals that could cost Governor David Paterson his job. Cuomo is expected to announce his own run for governor soon. Ravitch says the private meeting with Cuomo wasn't about the attorney general's office funding, but about the parameters of the $130 billion state budget. He says he's also met with the comptroller and legislators. Cuomo has refused to comment on the Friday meeting. Paterson supporters thought the get-together undermined the governor. Ravitch said Monday he believes Cuomo initiated the meeting. (Copyright 2010 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) |
