Kohls employee charged with stealing merchandise and selling on Ebay

NEW HARTFORD – After a one month investigation, the New Hartford Police Department has arrested a Clayville woman for stealing more than $50,000 of jewelry and merchandise from Kohls Department Store in The Orchards Complex.
According to Sgt. Inserra of the New Hartford Police, Kohl’s recently conducted a store inventory and discovered a large shortage in the jewelry department. An internal investigation was then commenced and the police were contacted. During the course of the investigation, store loss prevention learned that jewelry stolen from the store was listed for sale on Ebay.
With the assistance of Ebay, the identity of the seller of the stolen jewelry was learned. The seller of the merchandise was also employed at the very Kohl’s Department store where the merchandise was stolen from. The employee was then apprehended while working at the store during the commission of yet another larceny.
Shinae L. Podosek, 24, of Clayville, was interviewed and arrested by police. During the course of the investigation, the police recovered more than $50,000 of merchandise in the bedroom of her residence. The merchandise consisted of jewelry including earrings, necklaces, watches, perfume, clothing, and other items. The investigation determined that Podosek was able to sell thousands of dollars worth of merchandise stolen from Kohls on her Ebay account prior to the conclusion of the investigation.
Podosek was arrested and charged with one count second-degree grand larceny, 8 counts of first-degree falsifying records, and petit larceny.
Podosek was arraigned in the New Hartford Town Court and remanded to the Oneida County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.
