Red Cross announces Community Award Winners
ILION, N.Y. (WKTV) - Representatives with the American Red Cross are one step closer to this year's Great Heroes Breakfast.
The official ceremony of the 13th Annual American Red Cross Great Heroes Breakfast is set for 7:30 a.m. On March 18 at Herkimer County Community College. On Thursday, the Community Award Winners were announced: *Clara Barton Society - Bill Keeler *Blood Services Award - Tiffany Lott *Emergency Responder Award - Carol Higgins *Youth Leadership Award - Julia Bunce *Military Award - Sgt. Vincent Scalise A few weeks ago, this year's Great Heroes were named, including WKTV's own Steve McMurray. Red Cross Executive Director Andria DeLisle-Heath said that now more than ever, the community's help is needed, noting earthquakes in Haiti and Chile. "We've never had a disaster year like we have right now," DeLisle-heath said. "In all of my years that I've been at the Red Cross. We're helping a lot of people, and we need a lot of people to help us do that." |
