Canned goods to be collected along St. Patrick's Day Parade route
UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Before you leave the house to watch Utica's annual Saint Patrick's Day parade on Saturday, make sure you grab a can or box of food on your way out the door.
Mother Marianne's West Side Soup Kitchen is collecting non-perishable food donations along the parade route this weekend. Adorino Construction employees will be pushing wheelbarrows along the route as they collect the food items. They're hoping to collect enough to feed the hungry neighbors who eat at the soup kitchen every day. "For our first year, we collected 600 pounds of food and I think $700 in cash," said Bernie Adorino of Adorino Construction. Mother Marianne's Soup Kitchen is located at Saint Joseph's-Saint Patrick's Church in West Utica. The annual St. Patrick's Day Parade down Genesee Street in Utica is Saturday at 10 a.m. |
