WEST WINFIELD, N.Y. (WKTV) - Girl Scouts are celebrated a big milestone on Friday - they're turning 98 years old.

Girls from around the area got together to wish the nearly century-old Girl Scouts of American organization a happy birthday.

Brownie Unit 67 from Mount Markham Elementary School in West Winfield made a big presentation Friday morning during the school's morning meeting. The brownies have been working on a project all year about clean drinking water, and they believe there is no better time to show off all their hard work than on their birthday.

"One of the dates we were given to do the program was today," said Girl Scout Leader Christina Hekiard." "And what better day to do it than on our 98th birthday,"

Girl Scouts from around the county are celebrating the organization's 98th birthday this week.

There is no word yet if they will be serving 'cookie' cake and milk.
