Congressman Arcuri: No changes to the bill, no changing decision

By WKTV News

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WKTV) - As the House of Representatives prepares to vote on the Healthcare Reform Act, local Congressman Michael Arcuri is maintaining his position that he will vote "no" on the Senate's version of the legislation.

However, Arcuri spokesperson Sam Marcio said that the Congressman is not ruling out the possibility of changing his mind if revision are made to the Senate bill.

Marcio said that if changes were made to the bill, then Arcuri will take a look at the final bill and then make up his mind if he's a yea or nay. In addition Marcio says that is what all Legislators should do.

"To make decision on a bill that isn't written yet would be irresponsible," Marcio said.

Arcuri's 2008 opponent in the 24th Congressional District, Richard Hanna has come out against the healthcare reform bill as it stands right now.

Congressman Arcuri voted "yes" on a House version of the bill back on November 7, 2009.  But the House of Representatives and Senate drafted bills with many differences.
