Woman dies after being taken to Saratoga Springs jail
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities are investigating the
death of a woman who was found unresponsive in an upstate New York jail just hours after being arrested. Saratoga Springs police say 38-year-old Meredith Lickwola of Schuylerville was brought to the city lockup early Thursday morning after being arrested on a bench warrant related to a petit larceny charge. Police say she appeared normal and showed no obvious signs of medical complications. Shortly before 6 a.m., officers checking Lickwola's cell found her found unresponsive but breathing. Police say she was taken to Saratoga Hospital where she was later pronounced dead. An autopsy was being conducted to determine the cause of death.
