6th graders help raise money for fire victims
POLAND, N.Y. (WKTV) - A local family who lost everything in a house fire is getting a little help from an unlikely source, some local sixth graders.
Sixth graders from the Poland Central School District held a benefit bake sale for the Burns family of Cold Brook at the Stewart's on Route 8 in Poland Saturday afternoon. The Burns home was destroyed by fire on March 10th, and all the family had left after that fire, were the clothes they were wearing. Three of the burns children go to the same school as these kids, and their classmates thought it was a good idea to help the family out. Sixth grader Kailey Sweet is friends with one of the Burns kids. She said, "a bunch of my friends, we were talking in school, well we feel so bad for them, we should find a raise money, so we just thought of a bake sale and we did a local store Stewart's, and there's also a benefit April 10th at the Ohio Rec Club." |
