League of Women Voters supports "yes" to health care bill
UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The League of Women Voters is throwing their support behind a "yes" vote for health care reform.
The League is actually celebrating its 90th anniversary this month and held a Women's History Month celebration breakfast on Saturday morning. The group's primary focus is "fair pay and fair equity". Panel members discussed the current legislative status of the New York Fair Pay Act which they say would promote greater equity for women in the workplace. Despite the topic the breakfast was held for, health care reform was still on the minds of members with the vote taking place Sunday. Carole Torok-Huxtable of the League of Women Voters said, "at the National League, we have been working very hard to study the health care legislation, we definitely think that healthcare reform is needed and we are supporting the current President Obama's agenda on health care reform." |
