Local hair salon hosts cut-a-thon to raise money for animals

NEW YORK MILLS, N.Y. (WKTV) - Some area kids and adults too who needed a haircut got a great deal and helped a good cause at the same time Saturday on Burrstone Road.

The hair salon called Blonde Ambition held a cut-a-thon Saturday to raise money for the Stevens-Swan Humane Society.

The owner offered half-price haircuts and is making a big donation from Saturday's proceeds to the shelter.

The event was called "Cutting-For-Critters" and the salon's owner has a personal vested interest in helping animals. Owner Mary Kwiecinski said, "I have a lot of pets. I have cats, dogs, hamsters, fish and frogs. I have a zoo."

This year the Stevens-Swan Humane Society is celebrating 100 years of helping animals and they sure want to thank Mary at Blonde Ambitions for holding the fundraiser.
