Spring cleaning amnesty in Utica

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Utica Mayor David Roefaro has announced a four week grace period to set green waste material loose at the curb for collection by the City of Utica Department of Public Works beginning March 28th.

After April 25th, green waste must be placed in metal or plastic containers and left at the curb on your corresponding garbage night. Shrubbery, branches, and limbs should be no longer than four feet and should be tied or bundled.

No loose green waste will be collected after April 25th.

Residents will be fined if they put green waste in plastic garbage bags. Green waste left in containers should not exceed 50 pounds, and should never be put in your orange recycling container.
