Herkimer County Republicans endorse Lazio for governor

HERKIMER, N.Y. (WKTV) - Herkimer County Republicans met Saturday morning and overwhelmingly endorsed Rick Lazio for the Republican nomination for governor. This simply adds to the list of local GOP endorsements for the GOP candidate.

According to the Lazio Campaign, that makes three county endorsements for Rick Lazio compared to Steve Levy's zero since entering the race.

In addition to the Herkimer County GOP, the Washington County Republican Party and the Chemung County Conservative Party have also endorsed the candidate in recent weeks.

In addition to county party organizations, several county executives have endorses Lazio. Orange County Executive Edward Diana is one of them.

Locally, Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente and Chairman George Joseph have said they will support Lazio. Also, Otsego County GOP Chairwoman Sheila Ross has also officially endorsed him.

On the legislative side, State Senator James Seward is endorsing Lazio.

Republican committee leaders from Brooklyn, the Bronx, Westchester and Rockland Counties are now endorsing Lazio, who is a former congressman from Long Island.
