Utica Mayor opens the "May I" hotline for Spring 2010
UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Utica Mayor David Roefaro says he wants to know how he can help you - via the city's "May I" hotline, which is now open.
Potholes, litter, and any other quality of life issues are being addressed this month, Mayor Roefaro said. Although it was April Fool's Day Thursday, he insisted that he really does want people to call and complain to him. To kick off the campaign, a garage on Howard Avenue will be torn down. The city just painted it last week, but Roefaro said they decided painting the structure wasn't enough. "We're going to tear down this garage," Roefaro. "It's unsightly, it's unsafe, and hopefully within the next 30 days we'll have the right permits and tools to really demolish this property and make it the nice area that it is." A poster reading "Mayor Roefafo's May I Hotline" was present at the kickoff press conference on Howard Avenue Thursday, but there was no word on whether or not the misspelled poster was meant as an April Fool's Day joke. The line is open April 1 through May 1. The number to call is 315-269-3109. Mayor Roefaro said that if you leave a detailed message, he will get back to you. |
