National political advisor announces Senate run against Schumer
HUDSON, N.Y. (WKTV) - Longtime U.S. Senator Charles Schumer has a challenger.
National political advisor and Fox News commentator Jay Townsend is scheduled to officially announce this Saturday that he will be running against Schumer for the U.S. Senate.
The announcement is scheduled to take place at 9:30 a.m. at Donahue Memorial Park at Cornwall on Hudson.
Townsend said that at the weekend announcement, he will outline his plans "to reshape New York." Introductions at the announcement will be made by Townsend's friends Alan Seidman and Stephanie Sovak.
Townsend began his political career at the age of 23 as a legislative aide to a United States Senator. He has since been involved in more than 300 campaigns in over 25 states, most of them through his political consulting firm, The Townsend Group.
In addition, Townsend is often called upon by Fox News for political commentary on national and state elections.
