ORISKANY, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Economic Recovery Bill funding is having an impact right here in the Mohawk Valley.

Orion's CEO led Congressman Michael Arcuri and executives from Centro on a tour of their bus manufacturing facility Monday morning.

Centro recently used $7.6 million dollars in recovery bill funding to purchase 19 buses from Orion. One of those buses was on display.

The clean diesel bus will be the first new bus in Centro's Rome fleet since 1996.

"What better than to spend money on mass transit, on busses so that we can build less polluting vehicles which you do here in an incredible way. We can spend money in a way that keeps people working, puts people to work and it's happening right here in the Mohawk Valley," Arcuri said.

Many of the buses purchased by Centro will be used to replace old buses that are currently running along their Syracuse routes.
