Fugitive of the Week: Kwamae Smith for Schuyler Street shootings

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Authorities are continuing to search for leads in connection with a shooting on Schuyler Street last week, now featuring their suspect as the latest "Fugitive of the Week."

The United States Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force and the Utica Police Department are currently looking for Kwamae R. Smith for the May 27, 2010 shooting.

Smith, also known as "Banga," is described by authorities as a black male, 20 years old, 6' 01", 155 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair.

He is currently wanted by the Utica Police Department for criminal possession of a weapon, a loaded firearm, and reckless endangerment.

On May 27, 2010, at roughly five minutes after midnight, Smith is accused of firing a 9 mm handgun into a parked vehicle on Schuyler Street in Utica. At the time of the shooting, the vehicle was occupied by several subjects, including several children.

If observed, police warn not to approach Smith, as he is considered armed and dangerous.
