Utica Memorial Auditorium celebrates 50th Anniversary

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - There was a big birthday celebration going on in Downtown Utica Monday night as the Utica Memorial Auditorium turns the big 50.

The Aud was built by the City of Utica in 1959 and was dedicated to the memory of area veterans. It has grown into much more than that over the years, and become a premier entertainment venue in the region.

All sorts of business and vendors who work with the Aud were at the celebration. Earlier in the day there was an outdoor military tribute, complete with military helicopters landing on the premises.

Among the other celebration highlights was a flag raising, a color guard presentation, and several proclamations by state and local officials, including Congressman Michael Arcuri, Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente, and Utica Mayor David Roefaro.
