State Fair announces Chevy Court acts<B>SYRACUSE, N.Y.</B> - The legendary classic rock band Styx is part of a diverse group of eight Chevy Court acts announced Tuesday by the New York State Fair as part of this year's 24-performer lineup on Chevy Court. The eight Chevy Court acts announced Tuesday include: En Vogue, performing Thursday, Aug. 26 at 2 p.m.; Styx performing Saturday, Aug. 28 at 8 p.m.; Trailer Choir performing Sunday, Aug. 29 at 2 p.m.; Herman's Hermits featuring Peter Noone performing Tuesday, Aug. 31 at 2 p.m.; Mitchel Musso performing Saturday, Sept. 4 at 2 p.m.; Katharine McPhee performing Sunday, Sept. 5 at 2 p.m.; Jackyl performing Monday, Sept. 6 at 2 p.m.; and Marc Broussard performing Monday, Sept. 6 at 8 p.m. "Styx and all of the performers announced today bring distinctly different musical genres and styles to Chevy Court," said Dan O'Hara, Fair director. "We hope these acts will appeal to a wide range of people who can experience them for just the price of Fair admission." En Vogue is an award-winning Rhythm & Blues quartet whose hits include "Hold On," "Give Him Something He Can Feel," "Free Your Mind," "Whatta Man," and "My Lovin' (You're Never Gonna Get it)." The group includes all four of its original members. Styx, known for its theatrical approach and power ballads, was the first band ever to cut four consecutive multi-platinum albums. Styx's hits include "Lady," "Mr. Roboto," "Come Sail Away," "Babe," "Don't Let it End," "Show Me the Way" and "Lorelei." Trailer Choir is a fun-loving country trio that takes a unique approach to its music. They have a dedicated fan base built around often funny songs such as "Off the Hillbilly Hook," "What Would You Say," "Rollin' Through the Sunshine," and "Rockin' the Beer Gut." Herman's Hermits featuring Peter Noone, one of the bands that led the rock 'n roll British invasion in the early 1960s, will perform on one of the Fair's two scheduled senior citizen days. Mitchel Musso, best known for his role as Oliver Oken on "Hannah Montana," first appeared on the music scene in 2007 with an album that debuted at No. 19 on the Billboard Hot 200 chart. He has had two Top 10 hits on Radio Disney's top 30 chart: "If I Didn't Have You," and his cover of "Lean on Me." Katharine McPhee gained national fame in 2006 as a contestant on "American Idol," mesmerizing Idol fans with her rendition of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," which went on to become a successful single. She released her second album earlier this year. Jackyl, is a hard-rock band whose lead singer, Jesse James Dupree, is known for playing a solo with a real chain saw in their song "The Lumberjack." Other familiar songs include "Down on Me" and "Push Comes to Shove." Marc Broussard, independently recorded and released his debut album in 2002 at age 20, although he had been performing music on stage with his father's band since the age of 5. He has had two songs hit the Billboard's Adult Pop Songs charts: "Home" and "Where You Are." The performers announced Tuesday are part of a revamped Chevy Court format introduced in 2009 that will bring 24 national acts to the Chevy Court stage instead of the traditional 12. All of the shows on Chevy Court are free with Fair admission. The 2010 New York State Fair will run from Aug. 26 through Sept. 6. The announced lineup also includes rising country music superstar Lady Antebellum - one of the hottest acts in American country music - and "Man v. Food" television star Adam Richman. To date, a total of 17 Chevy Court performers have been announced. Acts that were previously announced for the daily Chevy Court shows are disco and funk masters Kool and The Gang at 8 p.m. Aug. 26; classic rock band Blue Oyster Cult at 2 p.m. Aug. 27; classic progressive rock group Kansas at 8 p.m. Aug. 27; Richman, afternoon of Aug. 28; high-energy rockers Blues Traveler at 8 p.m. Aug. 29; rising country music act Lady Antebellum at 8 p.m. Sept. 1; country group Eli Young Band at 2 p.m. Sept. 2; up-and-coming country singer Justin Moore at 2 p.m. Sept. 3; and rhythm and blues performer Keith Sweat at 8 p.m. Sept. 4.
