Cooperstown Farmers Market expanding their schedule

COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. - The Cooperstown Farmers Market, one of the area's oldest and largest markets is expanding!

Starting July 6, the market will be open on Tuesdays from 3-6 p.m. It will feature over 25 vendors with a complete selection of fresh local fruits, vegetables and herbs, an outstanding variety of meats including poultry, lamb, beef, rabbit, several varieties of sausages, and bacon - many of them organic.

Mountain View Dairy will have several cheeses to choose from. And local syrup, honey and baked goods including breads will be offered.

Market Manager Lyn Weir explained the vendor's choice of time as "a way to reach out to consumers who work in the village and would like to pick up some fresh food on the way home from work" She stated that "many people who are employed at the county office building, the hospital, banks, offices and retail stores live in outlying areas and would not drive in for the Saturday market." She noted that "there will also be a nice selection of arts and crafts for visitors to take home something made locally" Limited parking is available outside the market and there is parking in Doubleday Field for $1 per hour."

Scott Andersen will be on hand opening day providing music and other events will be featured throughout the summer season.

The market is located in Pioneer Alley, just off Main Street behind Key Bank and adjacent to Doubleday Field Parking Lot and is sponsored by Otsego 2000.
