Hundreds of people honor fallen soldier, Blair Thompson

ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) - Family and friends payed their respects to a fallen hero Saturday afternoon. Calling hours for Army Specialist Blair Thompson were held held Saturday in Rome.

Hundreds of people turned out to honor the sacrifices of Thompson. 

He was killed over a week ago in Afghanistan when his unit was ambushed. He was serving with the 101st Airborne Division's First Brigade Combat Team.
    
Thompson's body returned home at Griffiss Air Force Base Friday. American flags and patriot guard riders lined chestnut street leading to Barry Funeral Home in Rome on Saturday.

Thompson's funeral will take place at Saint Peter's Church in Rome at 2:00 Sunday afternoon. There will be a special ceremony held after the funeral at Fort Stanwix.
