Ilion man dead after shooting in Utica

UTICA - One man is dead after Utica's third murder this year.

It happened around 7:30 p.m. Monday night, right outside on the 300 block of Wetmore Street as people stood by, watching.

Neighbors say police were on the scene at Wetmore Street until around 2 a.m., looking for evidence and interviewing witnesses and others who were in the area at the time of the shooting.

Police say the victim is Jessie Wood, 41, of Ilion. Investigators haven't identified a specific suspect, but after talking with eyewitnesses, they say they're looking for two black men seen running from the area immediately after the shooting.
